We didn't take pictures as we have many zoo photos already. This is a small zoo that is being built up dramatically. It's beautifully kept. Cost is a minimum $3.50 for an adult ticket. There is a food court and a couple stands to eat/drink. Prices are slightly expensive as all parks are, but not as bad as most. This zoo even has a garden and a nice huts etc. No tickets were given; just a receipt. I'll be going back soon and will snap photos and update; in the meantime, visit the official site for days/hours of operation as well as current pricing.
We
went back September 2006 and found a nice change. First, the entire
building is new. There used to be a dinky little place to buy a ticket
before. The building is HUGE and now is for private meetings, education
and offices and houses a nice gift shop. The courtyard is new too, with a
large fountain area where I saw children running through the water. The
enter is a globe and the arrows point N, S, E and W. New animals have
arrived. It's still a small zoo in my opinion, housing most "ordinary animals".
A nice random sampling is shown below. Other things not show below (and
pretty much all the remaining animals there) include: a couple different hawks,
couple eagles, a couple owls, a couple smaller birds (don't know what they are).
Supposedly there are meerkats (but I did not see them). Also, some monkeys that
we couldn't take photos of because of the darkness and plexiglass enclosure.
Also various snakes, spiders, frogs, turtles etc. In the barnyard were a couple
different pigs, some goats, and a turkey. There was a rodent type animal I
didn't get a great photo of. Mot of the other animals are depicted below. 1) Some sort of bird I don't know the name of and it's chicks 2) Buffalo 3) Bongo (a type of Antelope) 4) The front of building 5) Duiker (I think another type of antelope)
1) Elephants 2) Emu 3) Donkey 4) The courtyard/fountain/Sculpture 5) Lion
1) A Mandrill (one of the larges apes) 2) one of Norfolk's infamous "mermaids" 3) Llamas 4) Monkey 5) Ostriches
1) Giraffe 2) Pig 3) Really cute photos of a Prairie Dog 4) Red River Hog 5) Tiger lounging in water
1) Really spiny waxy looking tree; very interesting; hard to see on the photo 2) Tiger 3) Zebra and 5) a great Zebra photo
